From there Romo was deployed in Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Storm where he worked on a patriot missile systems as well as crosstrained in handheld STINGER. Romo went on to duty station Fort Lewis, Washington, and finally Team Spirit in Korea. Romo was an E5 Sergeant when he was honorably discharged in 1993.
